Get EstimateShingle is the right default for most homeowners weighing cost against how long they plan to stay put — the lowest upfront price of the four systems we install, the fastest to get on the roof, and a good look on the classic gable and hip rooflines common across Martin County.
Where it loses ground: metal outlasts shingle by decades and handles wind better, worth the premium if you're staying 20-plus years or right on the coast. Tile holds its look longest but costs more to install, and individual tiles can crack. If neither trade-off bothers you, shingle is usually the more practical buy.

Florida Statute 627.7011 protects roofs under 15 years from being dropped on age alone — but Citizens can ask for full-replacement documentation once a shingle roof passes 25. A new roof resets that clock.

"Architectural" (also called dimensional) shingle is a thicker, layered version of the flat 3-tab shingle most people picture — two or more laminated layers for a stronger wind rating and a look that holds up over a Florida summer.
If you're still deciding between shingle, metal, or tile, we'll walk you through where each one wins on your specific roof, no pressure either way.

Most single-family jobs run one to a few days once the permit clears, though roof size, pitch, and any decking we find soft during tear-off can stretch that out.
Thickness and layering. Architectural shingle laminates two or more layers together for a heavier, textured product with a stronger wind rating — it’s the only shingle system we install for that reason.
Often, yes — especially with an impact-resistant product, and especially if your current roof is old enough that carriers are already asking questions. Your agent can confirm the exact effect on your policy.
Not in Florida, on almost any job. Current code expects a proper wind-rated install down to the deck, and layering a second system on top doesn’t meet that.
A wrong nailing pattern, a skipped underlayment upgrade, or flashing that doesn’t match the manufacturer’s spec — exactly the details a licensed install is supposed to get right the first time.
It comes down to how much sound deck and underlayment is left underneath versus how localized the damage is. We’ll give you a straight read during inspection, not an upsell.
